13 Sept 2023 update.  Club Rush is this week (Wed Sept 13th to Fri the 15th).  All are invited to an informational meeting Wednesday Sept 20th, 2pm in Ms. Galbo's room-413.  Click here to see 'what WHS Interact is all about'.

The WHS Interact Club was originally chartered in May 2017.  We lost two years due to covid, but going forward in 2021-22, Ms. Galbo volunteered to act as staff advisor, with Woodland Rotarians Jayne Williams and Gary Wegener as Rotary advisors. The last two years have been great, with a dedicated group of Interactors and a wide range of fun and meaningful projects (see below).

Weekly meetings will be held in room 413

on Wednesdays, from 2pm to ~3pm.

Here is a recap of a typical year:

It started with Club Rush, followed by an info mtg the following week.

October 6th Discussed service opportunities and need for/duties of Club officers and committees, with further discussion and voting to follow.  The expectation is that the club officers will be coordinating the planning and running the meetings.  Eight students were present.

October 20th. Club officers and chairs were elected.  President J Gutierrez; VP Jatziri; Secretary I Ramirez; Treasurer J Vargas.  Club committee chairs were Club-C Mantos; Finance-C Mendoza; Service-M Morales; International-J Williams.

November 17th, a successful canned food drive concludes, with the cans going to the Woodland Food Closet.  This was a competition between the 1st period classes at Woodland High, and the winner was Ms. Rose's class, room 910.  Winners to receive a prize for their efforts.  Service above self; way to go Interact!!!

December 11th The Interact "masked elves" assisted Santa at Woodland's Fesitval of Lights holiday celebration.  They escorted him through the thongs of onlookers to the stage for his wise words about 'naughty and nice' and then managed the children waiting to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas.

January 26, 2022   International project: "The Pads" project. At the 26 January meeting, Blair Voelz, a Woodland Rotarian showed a video on their Rotary WASH project phase one completion and pending startup of phase two, all providing a reliable water supply and basic bathroom facilities for an elementary school in Kenya.  He noted that many girls in Kenya drop out of school when they start their menstrual cycle becasue of the lack of privacy in restrooms, and that the WASH project will address that.  That prompted a discussion on how the Interactors could help... which lead to "The Pads" project.  The club will make reusable, cloth menstrual pads to send to the girls at the school in Kenya.  More to follow.

Valentine Gnomes February 2nd.  This was a

'fun project day", making the Valentine gnomes.
