Today's Meeting

With less than three months to go, President Chuck Maltese excitedly called the meeting to order at 12:17 and asked Les Engelmann to lead the club in the Pledge. Bob Tamblyn followed with Rotary Grace.
Visiting Rotarians
Jessie Perez introduced Peter Cahn from the Woodland Sunrise Club.
Guests of Rotarians
Tim Pettit was introduced by Kris Kristensen and Mahlon Whittle introduced his friend Larry Vosburg, his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl. Actually it was his son Darryl, but I couldn’t pass up on the chance to flash back to the television series Newhart.
Announcements
BOD Meeting News – Gibson House project is progressing and the job is out for bid. We are still waiting for final numbers on the auction dinner. Work Day – April 25th. The BOD turned down a donation request for Back Pack For Kids, but Linda K will look into what supplies the kids need to fill their backpacks. A few other donation requests were turned down, but the BOD did approve up to $2,000 for WHS’s wind ensemble trip to Carnegie Hall. The demotion dinner is set for the last Tuesday night in June (Yolo Fliers Club). The Colusa inter-club will be held at Hotel Woodland on April 21. Not due to a lack of effort, the inter-club meeting with Dixon is a no go. Peter Faye read a letter from one of the GSE students (Alberto) that toured our area twenty years ago. Alberto went on to join Rotary and continues to be very involved in his home country of Italy. Mystery Golf Trip – One group had to back out. There is still room for three more golfers. Gary Wegener emailed to everyone a YouTube link for the students raising books and money for a library in the Amazon (R.E.A.C.H. 4 Books). Please watch the short video and forward the link on to your friends and family. The more “hits” that they receive, the better their chance to win a national contest being held by Staples. Don Smith rang the bell for his granddaughter’s educational achievements.
Birthdays
George Burger was born in Phoenix 66 years ago, Herb Chandler was born 87 years ago and Peter Faye graced us with his presence on his 79th birthday.
Anniversaries

Steve Venables will celebrate his anniversary on tax day. Kris Kristensen will celebrate his 10th anniversary on Saturday.
Recognition
Filling in at the last minute, the tired accountant Gary Bunch actually took it easy on the group today, except for George Berrettoni who tossed in $20 for missing the past few meetings. George did note that 45 years ago on April 15th he became an Eagle Scout. Gary Bunch did take it out on Gerry Quinlan for not warning him about the table leg and Roy Holmes for reading the Rotary magazine that was being passed around. Herb Chandler was recognized for being our oldest Rotarian but Gary Wegener has to pay for sitting at his table. $2 Thankful Time started with Jim McGibbon telling a story about his trip to Augusta with his son 37 years ago, and his son continuing the tradition by taking his son this year. Scott Johnston was disappointed that we will not be meeting with the Dixon Club this year but was thankful to survive another tax season. Bob Nakken spent part of Easter in Carmel and was glad to see that someone else besides Tim Bernard got lucky bounces off of trees. Sounds like Tim hasn’t figured out that trees on a golf course are actually 90% air. Les was picked on for his shorts and golf outing this afternoon. Frank Gardner was thankful to have been to the Masters twice and Chuck Maltese was lucky enough to go to the Masters and play the front 9 in rough weather conditions. David Janes spent some time in “Disgusta” before he became interested in golf. Mahlon Whittle is going to hold onto his thankful dollars until Tim Bernard gets done working on Jan’s foot.
Rags to Riches
$40 to the other brother Darryl.
